Filip Kujawa
CS & Physics at UIUC. I like building things - lately, harnesses for frontier AI agents.
I'm a software engineering intern at Block, working on Goose. Most of my work is making agents cheaper and more dependable: prompt caching, long-horizon context management, and the evals to prove a change actually helps. One stretch of that work cut cost per task by two-thirds.
At UIUC I build robots with SIGRobotics. Our dual-arm robot took first place at the NVIDIA × Hugging Face Embodied AI Hackathon.
Work
-
Block - Software Engineering Intern, Goose & Applied AI2026 -
Core contributor to Goose: the LLM provider layer, context management, cost tracking, and the benchmarking infrastructure behind it all. Staying on part-time through the school year.
-
SIGRobotics, ACM @ UIUC - Robotics Engineer2025 -
Dual-arm manipulation with VLA policies fine-tuned in Isaac Sim, running GR00T N1.5 on Jetsons for real-time control.
-
Horizon 3 Venture Studio - AI Software Engineering Intern2024
Built LLM-driven automated testing and a RAG system over historical calls for an AI phone-support platform used by Prudential Financial.
-
FRC 971: Spartan Robotics - Machine Learning Lead2021 - 2025
Led ML for a top FRC team: real-time game-piece detection and pose estimation, and an autonomous routine that won the 2023 Autonomous Award at the World Championship. Mentored a 25-student JV team.
Projects
-
Recursive Language Models MCP Server
Recursive Language Models (arXiv 2512.24601) as an MCP server: a root model splits huge contexts and delegates to budget-capped leaf models. Held 100% accuracy on long-context retrieval from 50K to 1M tokens at near-flat cost; a single-prompt baseline fell to 33% while costing 40x more.
-
Hour of Robotics
A robotics-education platform where Scratch-style blocks become Python, run on a real robot, and preview in an in-browser 3D simulator. Second place at Y Combinator RoboHacks.
-
Dartmouth Evergreen AI
An AI pipeline that turns messy listserv emails into structured events for Dartmouth's mental health platform, replacing manual curation.
-
ScheduSwift
A genetic algorithm that builds conflict-minimized master schedules for K-12 schools. Took my high school's scheduling from 50 hours to 5 minutes for 2,500+ students.
-
Overhanging climbing wall
A 12ft × 12ft wall with a 25-degree overhang, designed and built in the backyard.
Life
Away from a keyboard I'm usually outside: hiking, climbing, skiing, surfing, water polo, or grilling with friends. Home is Mountain View, CA; school is Champaign, IL.
